Marlena Asprey is an international award-winning fabric artist living in South Lake Tahoe, CA.  She was born and raised in the San Diego, CA area where she first started sewing at the age of 10, with her mother as her instructor, sewing mostly clothing until after her 5th child was born.  She started quilting around 1989 and is mostly self-taught with a few adult school classes thrown in.  After a number of years of never wanting to do the same pattern more than once, she started doing her own thing with quilting and fabric art.  When she makes a quilt for someone, she loves to personalize it with their own personality and even uses old clothing of their loved ones. These are known as memory quilts or the very popular t-shirt quilts.  When making her wall quilts or fabric art, she is free to use fabric and other embellishments that cannot be used in a quilt. Amazing sights from her motorcycle back seat rides around the USA have inspired her. Now, she is also inspired by the beauty of Lake Tahoe.
