Coming from Washington, D.C., I'm used to hectic cityscapes with an opportunity for a good protest photo wherever you go. But moving here about two months ago, I'm starting to appreciate the tranquil scenes that surround me every day. I first started out with black and white film, but specifically worked as a digital photographer for environmental organizations, anthropological researchers, and college publications. My passion has always been film, so I'm looking forward to getting into the darkroom once it opens up. My main photographic focus has usually been nature and travel photography, but I aspire to cultivate an environmental justice aspect to my work. I'm interested in working with communities vulnerable to the impacts of climate change (culturally and environmentally) where I hope to provide a platform for their stories through my photographs. I believe that photographers have a responsibility to advocate for the people and places we photograph, which is why I'm eager to become a part of this active, artistic community.
